RVD-Hemopressin

Cannabinoid Modulation

Also known as: Pepcan-12, VD-Hpα, RVD-Hp

Hemoglobin-Derived PeptidesResearch phase: PreclinicalRegulatory: Not approved. Research peptide.

Mechanism

RVD-hemopressin (pepcan-12) is an extended version of hemopressin that acts as a positive allosteric modulator of CB2 cannabinoid receptors, potentially useful for inflammation and pain.

Technical detail

RVD-hemopressin (pepcan-12, RVDPVNFKFLSH) is a 12-amino acid peptide from hemoglobin alpha chain that acts as a negative allosteric modulator of CB1 and positive allosteric modulator of CB2 receptors. It enhances CB2-mediated anti-inflammatory signaling while dampening CB1 activity. Represents an endogenous peptidergic cannabinoid modulatory system (pepcans).
