Lunasin
Nutraceutical / Anticancer ResearchAlso known as: Lunasin Peptide
Mechanism
Lunasin is a soy-derived peptide with proposed anticancer and cholesterol-lowering properties. It is available as a dietary supplement and is being researched for epigenetic effects.
Technical detail
Lunasin is a 43-amino acid peptide from soybean (Glycine max) with an RGD cell adhesion motif, a poly-aspartate tail, and a chromatin-binding helical region. It inhibits histone acetylation and has demonstrated anti-proliferative effects in multiple cancer cell lines by inducing apoptosis and inhibiting NF-κB. Also reduces LDL cholesterol via HMG-CoA reductase pathway modulation.
