Hemopressin
Cannabinoid ModulationAlso known as: Hp, PVNFKFLSH
Hemoglobin-Derived PeptidesResearch phase: PreclinicalRegulatory: Not approved. Research peptide.
Mechanism
Hemopressin is a peptide derived from hemoglobin that acts as an inverse agonist at CB1 cannabinoid receptors. It reduces appetite and pain without THC-like psychoactive effects.
Technical detail
Hemopressin (PVNFKFLSH) is a nonapeptide derived from the alpha chain of hemoglobin. It functions as a CB1 receptor inverse agonist/negative allosteric modulator, reducing constitutive CB1 activity. It produces antinociceptive, anorexigenic, and antihypertensive effects in animal models without anxiogenic or dysphoric side effects typical of CB1 antagonists like rimonabant.
