GHRP-3
Growth Hormone / RecoveryAlso known as: Growth Hormone Releasing Peptide 3, His-DTrp-Ala-Trp-DPhe-Lys-NH2
Mechanism
GHRP-3 is a synthetic hexapeptide that stimulates growth hormone release from the pituitary gland. It is part of the GHRP family of research peptides developed alongside GHRP-1, 2, and 6. GHRP-3 has seen minimal clinical development compared to GHRP-2 and GHRP-6 and remains largely a research tool.
Technical detail
GHRP-3 is a synthetic hexapeptide GHS-R1a (ghrelin receptor) agonist that stimulates GH release via activation of hypothalamic GHRH neurons and direct pituitary somatotroph stimulation. Like other GHRPs, it acts through the phospholipase C/IP3/DAG/PKC pathway, increasing intracellular calcium and GH granule exocytosis. Less characterized than GHRP-2 and GHRP-6 in terms of GH/cortisol/prolactin ratio profiles.
