Deltorphin is a powerful delta-opioid peptide isolated from the skin of South American tree frogs. It is one of the most selective delta-opioid receptor agonists known.

Deltorphins are heptapeptides isolated from Phyllomedusa bicolor skin secretions containing a D-amino acid (D-Ala or D-Met) at position 2, conferring exceptional metabolic stability and delta-opioid receptor selectivity (Ki ~0.2-0.6 nM). They serve as key pharmacological tools for studying delta-opioid receptor function.
