Alpha-Neoendorphin

Opioid / Neuromodulation

Also known as: α-Neoendorphin, Alpha Neo-Endorphin

Endogenous Opioid PeptidesResearch phase: PreclinicalRegulatory: Not approved. Endogenous peptide used in research only.

Mechanism

Alpha-neoendorphin is a natural kappa-opioid peptide derived from the same precursor as dynorphin. It plays a role in pain modulation and stress responses.

Technical detail

Alpha-neoendorphin is a decapeptide derived from prodynorphin that acts primarily at kappa-opioid receptors with some mu-receptor affinity. It participates in spinal and supraspinal antinociception and neuroendocrine stress responses.
